WTMP 2023 #WTPitch Lottery Selections

The following list is the lottery selections of 2023’s #WTPitch event. This means that, if your name is below, you will be added to an exclusive list of accounts that may pitch to mentors for an open-ended, 4-month mentorship or a 25-page sample critique. If you’re not on this list, even if you do pitch, mentors will not be able to see your tweets.

Next Steps for the Lottery Selected:

  1. First, please confirm you have been notified of your selection by April 25th. Failure to let us know may result in your replacement - this is to make sure all mentor genres are adequately represented during the event. A simple reply to our onboarding email is fine, so you may use the example below!
I am [PEN NAME] and I plan to participate in the event.

  2. After you confirm your notification, you must get ready for April 29th, the #WTPitch Event! It will take place between 8AM and 8PM EST, and runs just like all other pitch events. However, WTMP does have specific hashtags for our program (to give you more characters!), which you can find here. Additionally, the following are the other specific rules to WTMP:

    • Use our #WTPitch Hashtag.

    • You can tweet 3 times in the 12 hour window. Please use different tweets each time, as Twitter may flag repeated tweets as spam and prevent your tweets from showing up.

    • Please do not use any pictures or aesthetics in your text (emojis are okay). There will be a specific call for mood boards to celebrate the end of the event!

    • You submit by completing the submission form linked below. If you’re having difficulty with your query or synopsis, don’t stress! Just send us what you can scrape up, especially if you are submitting for Mentorship and not a Submission Critique.

    • You are allowed to submit to any mentor that liked your pitch as long as you are interested in working with them! We will fight for you over on our side.

    • If you are selected as a mentee, you can accept or deny the mentor. If you deny their mentorship, you will not be a mentee but any submission critiques you have been offered are still valid. If you get more than one offer of mentorship, you may choose the mentor you want to work with the most between the multiple offers. If you have no clue, just email us! We’ll try to help.

    • If you get more than two offers to review your submission package, please only select two critique mentors you would like to work with.

    • Have your submissions in by May 6TH. The submission window will close on May 7th.

Being selected in the #WTPitch lottery does not mean you will be selected for a mentorship or a critique package. However, we hope you don't take it too hard - we are one of many mentorship programs that have similar opportunities (WriteMentor, #RevPit, #DVPit, #SFFPit, and I (Sami Ellis) have a list on my website.).

  3. After the #WTPitch Event window closes, the submission form will open HERE. Please fill out only one form. You will hear from us through email if we need more information.

That’s everything, folks! Thank you so much for being with us until now. Here’s to the next chapter!
